I saw a previous user asked if they could stack the UPS with other units, but can another battery pack (say, a second X708-A1) be used? Could I charge the second battery pack from the x708-A1 PH2.0 or XH2.54 connector?

Does the X708-A1 charge through the X750. I'm not fully sure as the battery indicator on the X750 remains the same whether connected or not.
