Important Notes

  • The X1006 is designed for data storage purposes and does not currently support booting from HDD/SSD with the existing firmware.
  • Not compatible with M.2 NVMe SSDs, M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs, or other M.2 non-SATA devices
  • Older SATA drives with less efficient flash media may not perform as well as newer drives
  • New SATA HDDs/SSDs are not partitioned and will need to be both partitioned and formatted when first connected to the Raspberry Pi before they will be accessed in the Explorer.

Overview

X1006 PCIe to 2 ports SATA HDD/SSD expansion board is designed to provide a mass-capacity storage and high-speed storage solution for your Raspberry Pi 5. This board facilitates the simultaneous connection of a SATA 2.5-inch HDD and a SATA M.2 KEY-B 2280 SSD, unleashing the full potential of your storage capabilities, with SATA 3.0 interface speeds reaching up to 5Gbps.

The X1006 connects to the underside of the Raspberry Pi 5, eliminating the need for a passthrough for the GPIO. This means you can use your favorite HATs while also utilizing this expansion board. Additionally, the X1006 and your HDDs can be powered from Raspberry Pi5 via pogo pins, streamlining the power supply to a single source.

The X1006 serves as the perfect storage solution for establishing a home media center or constructing a network-attached storage (NAS) system. It empowers you to store and stream your personal collection of videos, music, and digital photos within the confines of your home or remotely from anywhere around the globe.
