Does the X825/X855/X856/X857 support USB boot?

Network and USB boot
Support for these additional bootmodes will be added in the future via optional bootloader updates. The current schedule is to release network boot first, then USB boot.

OK, Raspberry Pi Foundation release BETA version to support USB boot, please refer to [https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bcm2711_bootloader_config.md Pi 4 Bootloader Configuration]

More detail please refer to https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/booteeprom.md and https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/msd.md

But USB mass storage boot is available on Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, 3A+, and 2B v1.2 only.

  • This is a third-party solution, not the official Raspberry Pi Foundation.

X825/X855 Allows booting OS from your HDD/SSD for faster app opens, web serving and file copying , A micro SD card is required for forcing the Raspbian OS to use the HDD/SSD for its "root" partition

In the meantime USB boot is working and productive on RasPi4.

watch out for the minor problem with above link "how to boot ...." this links to tom's hardware but the option for the USB boot if using the latest raspi-config is under option 6 not 3

I managed to use this board for Homeassistant (https://www.home-assistant.io/) and used the beta v5.1 HassOS that supports SSD booting. I can confirm this is working with this board, however i get Kernel Messages about UAS mode. After applying usb.quirk as describerd here (https://www....php?t=245931) there are no errors anymore. How well is UAS mode implented in youre device?

Exactly the same here. I had to apply quirk in order to avoid this messages. I'd like to know a SSD drive fully supporting UAS mode
